Making the bed in a motorhome is a full-body workout nobody warned you about. Why RV King beds are so hard to make
At home you can walk around three sides of the bed. In most rigs, an RV King gives you one side, maybe one and a half. Designers push the bed tight to a wall or cabinet run to free up floor space, and in a lot of fifth wheels and Class A coaches the foot corners are angled or rounded so you can squeeze past when the slide is in.
That creates three problems at once. You can't reach the far corners to anchor them. Any extra fabric has nowhere to go, so it bunches against the wall. And because the bed moves with the coach, a sheet that's only barely hooked on works itself loose after a few hours of highway vibration. The fix starts before you ever touch the bed: getting sheets that are the right size to begin with.
Start with sheets that match the mattress
A home King fitted sheet is built for a 76-inch-wide mattress. Most RV Kings run about 72 inches wide. That leftover 4 inches is exactly what ends up wadded against the wall, and it's why you keep re-tucking. Pocket depth matters just as much. Measure your mattress height plus any topper, then use this as a rule of thumb:

The last detail is elastic. Corner-only elastic is fine on a bed you can walk around. On a wall-side bed, you want elastic that runs the full perimeter, because it keeps gripping the edge you can't reach once you let go.
Step by step: making the bed
The whole trick is working from the hardest corner toward the easiest one, so the last thing you touch is the edge right in front of you.
- Make room first. If your RV King sits on a lift-up platform, raise it slightly or pull the mattress a few inches off the wall. Even two inches of gap makes the far corners reachable. If the slide-out affects bed access, do this with the slide out.
- Hook the wall-side head corner. Kneel on the mattress and seat the fitted sheet's corner pocket fully under the far top corner. Don't stretch it, just seat it.
- Hook the wall-side foot corner. Same thing at the far bottom corner. Both hard corners are now done while the mattress is still loose.
- Pull toward you and finish. Step off the bed, pull the sheet toward the open side, and pop on the two near corners. The perimeter elastic will draw the fabric tight across the whole surface.
- Tuck the flat sheet along the wall now. Before you push the mattress back, lay the flat sheet and tuck its wall side under. Once the mattress is back against the wall, that tuck is locked in place by the bed itself.

Cut corners and slide-out beds
Angled or rounded foot corners look like they need a special sheet, but they usually don't. A properly sized RV King fitted sheet with full elastic simply gathers the extra fabric at the clipped corner. Seat that corner last on its side, and smooth the gathers underneath rather than on top so you don't feel them at your feet.

Keeping it tight on travel days
A parked bed and a moving bed are two different things. A few habits help:

- ✓Keep heavy stuff off the bed while driving. Bags and bins sliding across the mattress drag the top sheet and pull corners loose.

Wash cotton RV sheets in cool or warm water and tumble dry low. Hot cycles are hard on elastic, and on a wall-side bed the elastic is doing most of the work, so it's worth protecting. Pull the fitted sheet out while it's slightly damp and put it straight back on the bed; it'll relax into shape and you skip the wrinkles.
