The science of SGI bedding sheets begins with the art of procuring the finest quality cotton and ends only
after seeing the big smile of our customers after receiving the happiness wrapped in a small packet of their best sheets.
Length of the individual fiber means “staple”. Longer the fiber, stronger and finest it is. Whereas shorter fiber leads to weaker weave and ultimately results in weaker fabric.
At SGI Bedding, we use long-staple cotton that yields a very soft weave, ultimate feel, better strength, and luxurious sheets.
A ply is a strand of fiber that makes up a piece of yarn. To manufacture the single, strongest and finest threads, we at SGI Bedding use single ply yarn. This guarantees light, lofty feel with long-lasting sheets.
While multi-ply yarn results in the thicker thread, which in turn produces a heavier fabric, with a rough feel and it is typically less durable.
Yarn size refers to the fineness of each yarn (thread). Higher the number of yarn size, finer and better the yarn. SGI Bedding sheets typically have yarn size between 80-100 count, finest available for cotton bedding, resulting in more supple and luxurious sheets.
The other sheets available in the market typically use a yarn size between 20-40 count making them thick and less sumptuous sheets.
Weaving displays the look and the feel of the sheets.
The sheets of SGI Bedding is crafted in sateen weave giving satin-like feel and luxurious sheen. The one-yarn-under and three-yarn-over weave expose more thread surface, more tightly woven, naturally wrinkle-resistant, making it heavier in weight than other weaves, and therefore it is ideal for year-round comfort.
Thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch of fabric. These consist of vertical threads (warp) and horizontal threads (weft) woven together.
After deep research, at SGI Bedding, we use optimal thread count which provides ultimate comfort, luxury, softness, breathability, durability, and strength. Thus, our sheets last longer and look better.
While thermal regulating qualities are not associated with lower thread count. Studies show that the lesser the threads, the harder the nap will be. They are not even durable and lack luxury and comfort.
We at SGI Bedding have our in-house infrastructure and advance machinery to complete the finishing process like Singeing, Mercerizing, Bio-polishing, Dying, and Final Finishing.
Bio polishing is the technique that is used to make the fabric extremely soft and luxurious, and very few factories in the world can do that. Our fabrics are bio polished in-house.
Important to mention here is that the whole process gets completed using environmentally friendly facilities, and sheets are made using materials tested for harmful substances. While to cut the cost, some manufacturers, use harsh and harmful substances and usually skip the testing step.
At SGI Bedding, for Cutting and Packaging too, we have a separate unit where we rigorously check and monitor the quality. All fabric is checked again before cutting and we use our in-house advanced machinery and equipment's.
